Alumna to share her research at Neuroscience 2016

Sarah Chiren ’16 will present her work on traumatic brain injury at this fall’s Neuroscience 2016 conference, where international neuroscientists present emerging science to their colleagues.

Chiren won a competitive national research travel award given jointly by Nu Rho Psi and the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) to present her award-winning work.

The Lake Forest neuroscience major worked on her research at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) in Professor Daniel Peterson’s lab through a unique partnership with the College.

Chiren first began working with Peterson as a LFC-RFUMS Summer Scholar in 2015. She continued her research during a year-long senior thesis in neuroscience in Peterson’s lab, where she continues to work. The Lake Forest alumna plans to attend medical school.

The San Diego-based Society of Neuroscience meeting, where Chiren will present her research, annually draws 30,000 attendees from more than 80 countries.
