Opening doors

Kelley Nugent ’16 can’t believe all the opportunities she’s had since transferring to Lake Forest College two years ago.

The art major and print and digital publishing minor worked on a book published by Lake Forest College Press, studied abroad in London and Florence, visited six countries, and forged a growing list of friends and contacts.

She’s also joined several organizations on campus, including the student newspaper, the student radio station, and the art club, all of which have allowed Nugent to develop her creative side. And serving as a resident assistant has helped Nugent build her leadership and collaboration skills.

“Transferring is scary, but it gave me a new slate and the opportunity to reinvent myself into the person I am striving to become,” she said.

Nugent transferred to Lake Forest from McHenry County College. She will be the first in her family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
