Undergraduate Fellowships and Scholarships
The hard work you’ve put into your education can pay off in ways you might not have ever imagined. Whether you are a first year student with an idea about how to bring peace into the world, a rising senior trying to learn more about your options for the future, or an alumnus with a passion and a vision, there may be opportunities that will provide you with the support to pursue your dreams!

Please note: Some of these fellowships and scholarships require official endorsement by Lake Forest College. Dean Schneiderman serves as the contact person for all applications—and endorsements—and can explain the process for each individual fellowships and scholarship.
For fellowships and scholarships that require Lake Forest College endorsement or support, potential applicants must contact Dean Schneiderman to discuss the process no later than June 1 preceding fall submission. The College will not endorse any applicants who begin the process after June 1.
James Rocco Quantitative Research Fellowships—To support Lake Forest College students wishing to further their interest in quantitative study.
The Davies-Jackson Scholarship—An opportunity for first-generations students with exceptional academic records to study at Cambridge
Rhodes Scholarship—To support graduate study at Oxford
Fulbright Grants—To conduct research or teach English and promote intercultural communication throughout the world
Marshall Scholarship—To support graduate study in the UK
Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans—To support graduate study by new Americans in a wide variety of fields
Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship—To support graduate study in international affairs
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellows Program—To become a research fellow at the Carnegie Endowment
George J. Mitchell Scholarships—To study in Ireland/N. Ireland following graduation
Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Fellowship—To conduct research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia
For fellowships and scholarships that require Lake Forest College endorsement or support, potential applicants must contact Dean Schneiderman to discuss the process no later than October 1 preceding spring submission. The David B. Mathis Kemper Scholars Program —To support students interested in the insurance industry. Only first-year students may apply
Graduate School Exploration Fellowship — To support historically underrepresented students. Only sophomores may only
Truman Scholarship – To support graduate studies in public service fields
Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship – To support undergraduates planning to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service; fellowships available for both undergraduate and graduate students
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship – To support undergraduate students in the sciences; apply while a sophomore or junior
Boren Scholarships – To study abroad, with a focus on language acquisition, as an undergraduate or graduate student
Udall Scholarships – To support undergraduate students desiring to pursue a career related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care; apply while a sophomore or junior
Hellenic American Education Foundation Fellowship – To teach English and/or work with the HAEF in Greece
Multiple or Rolling Deadlines
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program – To support study abroad while an undergraduate receiving a Federal Pell Grant.
Information for International Students
Although most of the above opportunities are restricted to United States citizens or legal permanent residents, there are other fellowships and scholarships available to international students who wish to continue their studies in the United States following graduation. Contacting your graduate institution is an important step in seeking out funding, but feel free to also contact this office for further guidance.
